These many methods to peel big amount of garlic quickly and painless. Depends on application on a future uses of garlic you can pick your own favorite.
The first that most popular I think is Microwave Method:
Place the garlic bulb or individual cloves in the microwave for about 15 seconds. The heat causes the skins to loosen, making them easy to slip off.
The second Knife Crush Method:
Place an unpeeled garlic clove under the flat side of a chef’s knife and give it a firm press or smack with your hand. The skin will break apart and peel off easily. This method is simple and works well for a few cloves at a time.
The 3d is not very common is Water Soak Method:
Soak garlic cloves in warm water for 5–10 minutes. The skins will soften and become easier to peel, though this takes more time.
This one is not great for a large amount of garlic, but great one or two heads of garlic is Rolling Pin Smash:
Place garlic cloves under a rolling pin or a heavy object and roll over them lightly. The skins will crack and fall off.
This one, only make sense if you have this little tool, called silicone tube is Silicone Garlic Peeler:
Use a silicone garlic peeler tube. Place the garlic cloves inside and roll the tube on the counter with light pressure. The skins will separate from the cloves inside the tube.
My Favorite way to peel garlic
If you are not planning to cook with garlic and use in a raw application or ferment it, this method is best of all. It's call "shake" method. Here's how:
Separate the cloves: Break apart the garlic bulb into individual cloves.
Smash the cloves: Place each clove under the flat side of a chef's knife and give it a quick press. This helps loosen the skin.
Transfer to a container: Put the smashed cloves into a large container with a tight-fitting lid. A metal bowl with another bowl on top or a mason jar also works.
Shake vigorously: Hold the container firmly and shake it as hard as you can for about 15–20 seconds. The force will help the skins separate from the garlic cloves.
Check and remove: Open the container, and you'll find the garlic cloves mostly peeled. You can easily remove any remaining bits of skin by hand.
This method works great for peeling large amounts of garlic quickly!
